A stating that no doubt you've heard a lot running a business, in sports, and human performance normally is manipulating the controllable. What does that really mean? I wanted to take this concept of governing the controllable, that's actually excellent advice mind you, and take it out in the realm of as being a cliché and in to the whole world of a thing that we can easily actually do.
In our workshops we'll use something referred to as the CIA Model to help students gain understanding of this concept and lower stress in their own individual lives. It's pretty easy to understand this model so here's the short form.
CIA means Control Influence Accept. All from the circumstances and situations that people find inside us will fall under one of these brilliant three categories. I am going to discuss them in the opposite direction order.
There can be an enormous amount of things in our world that people must accept. Weather, traffic patterns, scores and connection between games that people're not actually playing in. One from the best things that people can do for the own reassurance is the fact that when there's something which we need to accept, is really just to accept it not waste any injury trying to put it back.
The second category are things we influence. The two big issues that get into this are the immediate environment, your automobile, your working environment, your house, and other people that you simply deal with. Listen, we do not have total control over our little ones, our colleagues, etc, but perform have influence over them, the other in the best items that that can be done on your own growth is the fact that in circumstances where you have influence to exercise that influence will dramatically enhance your self-esteem.
Now we arrive at the category of things we could control. We're here to speak about manipulating the controllable. Well, guess what, folks? I've found that there is really only 1 thing among the list of things that people can control. It's your decisions.
That's right, your decisions about your life include the only thing that individuals already have direct treatments for. When you realize this, it will become sort of confronting and kind of liberating all at the same time. What do you do using this type of information, how the only thing that I have control over include the decisions that I make?
Stop wanting to control stuff that you have no treatments for. Amazing in my experience how much energy people waste wanting to control things that they maybe have influence over, but in many cases should just accept. I'll also state that in terms of issues that you have zero influence over, I wouldn't spend long talking or complaining about them. It's only a drain on the energy. Are you catching yourself wanting to control things that you ought to just accept? Notice that, and I would change your mind on that.
When you realize the only thing you have control over can be your decisions, take responsibility with the decision-making process. I'm not saying to blame yourself when things turn out poorly. I am saying it will require responsibility check here for that decision that you make. That's when you commence controlling the controllables and seeing the final results that you really be interested in.
I don't play a whole lot of poker, but one thing that I often hear is winning at cards, specifically poker, includes a touch related to they that you simply are dealt, and it carries a huge amount related to how we make decisions and play the cards which you're dealt. Same thing goes for your daily life. Life truly is 10 percent what are the results to us and 90 percent how you react.
